Blue notes
Glazed Ceramics, 21,5 x 7 x 8 in, 2025
This sculpture is a chorus of the city, composed of deep blue lips, golden teeth, and red tongues that speak, shout, and echo with the same loudness as the streets. At the top stands a rat, playing a golden saxophone like the lead voice in this surreal tower of mouths. Absurd yet sincere, it symbolizes how creatives and art emerge from the most unexpected corners of New York. It is the street performer, the whisper in the alleyway, the fleeting inspiration caught between subway stops. This sculpture doesn’t imitate New York, it embodies it. It is a concert of noise, a layering of expression, and a fragile harmony rising from chaos.
Once I walk out of the subway I see a man playing drums in the subway station. He is so talented. His music might even be better than the one of the jazz club I'm going to. In reality, each corner of this city is hiding a surprise, especially when the sun goes down. There really is something magical about New York at night. The bustling lights, the loudness of the streets, there are too many events to even count. Maybe this is why there are so many creatives living here, the opportunities and inspirations are endless. And I must admit, anywhere else in the world is boring compared to this. As expected, the concert was amazing.
